– corruption tendencies I.e. potential clients especoally in public sector seeking personal compensation to award you a project.
– MRA delays in assessing and issuing Tax Clearance certificates thereby affecting business’s eligibility to bid for projects.
– High fees for professional registrations.
– cost of bid submissions I.e. potential clients still demanding submission of several hardcopies of bid documents in the 21st century when one can submit electronically.
– potential clients specifying professions/qualifications that don’t exist in a project Terms of Reference e.g. Electro-Mechanical engineer or Building Services engineer.
– for design and build projects, there is usually pressure from Team Leader ( Main Contractor) to tone down design specifications in order to reduce cost without regard to effect on structural integrity.
